West Africa Connect brings together textile, garments and ICT suppliers and buyers

UNIDO, jointly with the International Trade Center (ITC) and in cooperation with the ECOWAS Commission, has successfully organized West Africa Connect on 16 and 17 November 2021. This online B2B networking event connected more than 150 textile, garments and ICT suppliers/service providers from 16 West African countries with international and regional buyers.

As a result of this trade fair, 80 business meetings were successfully conducted, and more are expected in the coming days as the matchmaking platform will remain open for one-on-one meetings until the end of November 2021.

B2B matchmaking activities were coupled with webinar sessions on latest market trends and developments conducted by sector experts. More than 400 participants from 31 countries engaged in lively exchanges focusing on West African produced textile and garments, digitalization and innovation, sustainability and inclusivity issues, and various sector-related themes and product ranges.

West Africa Connect was organized in the framework of the West Africa Competitiveness Programme (WACOMP), an European Union-funded initiative aiming to strengthen the competitiveness of the West Africa region and enhance the integration of ECOWAS Member States and Mauritania into the regional and international trading system. In the context of the WACOMP, a second regional B2B event is scheduled in 2022 to further facilitate linkages between mango, cassava and ICT suppliers from the region and buyers.
