Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS), Trade and Sustainable Development

NEW DEHLI, 17-18 September 2018 – During the International Convention on Sustainable Trade and Standards (ICSTS) which was organized by the Quality Council of India in collaboration with the United Nations Forum on Sustainability Standards (UNFSS), of which UNIDO is a member, the international launch of the third UNFSS Flagship Report entitled “Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS), Trade and Sustainable Development” took place. The report documents how VSS are catalyzing change for sustainable development and highlights the critical challenges on the way ahead.

This Convention also provided a space for actors across all levels of the value chain to share their experiences and best practices to collaborate in sustainable production, value chains and trade. UNIDO, Mr René Van Berkel, moderated the panel on VSS in the textile sector and shared examples of practical support to VSS through UNIDO projects.
