Upgraded on-line course “Introduction to Footwear Pattern Engineering” launched

Since 2012 UNIDO has designed and rolled out an innovative online courses to provide free technical resources to practitioners to strengthen the leather industry across the various parts of the value chain. Courses are prepared and updated integrating advantages of new digital technologies. Online courses are suitable for both on-line learning and classroom teaching.

The latest addition in January 2023 is the course “Introduction to Footwear Pattern Engineering”. The course Introduction to Leather Testing is designed for training institutions, private companies. The course is recommended to be used in a blend of practical hands-on classroom instruction using training content or self-learning along with allocation of time for hands on training. All courses provide opportunity for continuous professional development and lifelong learning.

The course is divided into five modules:  Anatomy of the Human Foot; Shoe Materials; Sample Production; Last Copy and Design. Content was developed and prepared as a joint effort between UNIDO, Common Sense and International Shoe Competence Center (ISC). The course is offered free of charge and a certificate issued upon successful completion of the course. The course will be available also in additional languages, and will be available also via UN SDG learning platform.
