UNIDO supports digitalisation of Ghana cosmetics clusters

A digital platform “Ghana Cosmetic Cluster” was launched by Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) on 7 April 2021 with the support of UNIDO and European Union as part of the joint “West Africa Competitiveness Programme” in Ghana .

The ‘Ghana Cosmetics Cluster’ digital space, has been conceived benchmarking the best international examples of cosmetic clusters digital platforms. It will serve as the country’s cosmetic industry digital promotional display and will support AGI in showcasing Ghanaian cosmetic cluster products and ensure small and medium enterprises (SMEs) visibility in the national and international market. This initiative aims to facilitate networking and market interactions: business-to-business (B2B), business-to-customer (B2C) and customer-to-customer (C2C) interaction, thereby contributing to boosting the cosmetics and personal care industry and positioning Ghana as a quality market hub for cosmetic products.

The digital platform is the first collective effort that the Ghanaian cosmetic clusters are taking to become more visible and ensure that the local knowledge, experience and skills of member companies are duly promoted. Through this online tool, AGI is expecting to enhance Ghanaian natural cosmetic and personal care products access to global markets, as well as to promote the competitiveness of the cosmetics sector in Ghana. In a continuously changing market, small and medium enterprises operating in the identified cosmetic clusters were invited to take advantage of this unique opportunity and to showcase their products and become more visible in the digitalized world.
