UNIDO, jointly with the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia, has organized the Second Regional Conference on Industrial Development (2nd RCID) under the theme “Acceleration of Industry 4.0 for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrialization” between 10 and 11 November 2021 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Conference resulted in the adoption of the Jakarta Agenda on Industry 4.0, which calls for all stakeholders in the Asia and Pacific countries to continue to explore solutions to address the challenges and seize the opportunities for accelerating the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrialization.
The Jakarta Agenda on Industry 4.0 also calls on the G20 to prioritize the digitalization of production and other applications of the 4IR as a key avenue to support resilience and an inclusive and sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
UNIDO Director General LI Yong stated that “in support of the 2nd RCID, UNIDO aims to further promote global and regional cooperation to help reap benefits from the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It is also a very strategic and timely event in the context of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency in 2022. UNIDO reiterates its full support to the Government of Indonesia in this endeavour, and stands ready to contribute to the G20 deliberations as a trusted knowledge partner.”
On the sidelines of the conference, the Government of Indonesia and UNIDO officially signed the Country Programme (CP) 2021-2025, which reaffirms the partnership commitment between Indonesia and UNIDO and which will help increase efficiency, effectiveness and funding possibilities.
