UNIDO launching a major initiative on investment appraisal in Tanzania
From 4−8 February 2019, UNIDO concluded a week-long intensive training programme on Industrial project preparation and appraisal using the flagship software of Computer Model for Feasibility Analysis and Reporting (COMFAR III Expert). The training programme was dwelling on the various stages of preparing feasibility reports as well as the integration of pertaining data for analysis. Through this targeted intervention, UNIDO concretely assists URT’s stakeholders in project-based investment promotion efforts.
In total, 20 participants from various Tanzanian investment promotion institutions including the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), the Confederation of Tanzania Industry (CTI), Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MITI) and others attended this training programme. The training was subsequently carried out in Zanzibar from 11−15 February 2019 and saw the participation of almost 20 experts from the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA), from the Zanzibar National Zanzibar National Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture (ZNCCIA), from the Ministry of Industry,Trade and Marketing (MITM) of Zanzibar as well as other private and public sector institutions.
COMFAR advanced trainings are being already planned for March 2019. A group of national COMFAR trainers will be certified and empowered to undertake future investment appraisal work in Tanzania, thereby reaching sustainability and upscaling effects. The activities are being undertaken in the context of the ongoing UNIDO Programme for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (PISID) in Tanzania (Project No. 180028, link ).
