UNIDO launches Global Call for Innovative Solutions in Cleantech and Sustainable Land Management

Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time and we are faced with the immediate need to reduce global emission levels and to prevent further emissions growth in rapidly developing regions. Against this background and following last year’s successful competition, A Global Call for Innovative Solutions in Cleantech and Sustainable Land Management has been launched. The competition was initiated by the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office in Germany (ITPO Germany), is hosted by the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Network (ITP Network), and is supported by other UN agencies, such as UNCCD and UNFCCC. It is conducted in cooperation with Future Cleantech Architects (FCA), a leading German Think Tank.

The Global Call aims to identify and promote readily deployable and scalable solutions and innovative technologies from the private sector in order to address the adverse effects of climate change and ultimately contribute to inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economic development in developing countries.

The competition is addressed to private sector entities (micro, small, medium, and large companies & start-ups) with a focus on four strategic categories related to innovative solutions in cleantech and sustainable land management:

  1. Decarbonizing growing urban environments
  2. Clean and efficient energy generation and storage
  3. Circular production and industrial processes
  4. Sustainable land management

Applications must be received until 2 August 2021 via this online form.

The Award Ceremony will be held as hybrid event on 26 October 2021. Besides many other services, the winning applicants will be offered to showcase their solutions at international trade-shows and events and will receive advisory services from the ITP Network.
