UNIDO and UPDIS step up collaboration on planning and development of urban areas and industrial zones
On 4 September 2019, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Urban Planning and Design Institute of Shenzhen signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the BRIDGE for Cities 4.0 event : Connecting cities through the new industrial revolution that took place in Vienna, Austria.
Building on the long-standing and successful cooperation between UNIDO and the city of Shenzhen towards inclusive and sustainable industrial development, this MoU will further support the sound planning and development of urban areas and industrial zones by considering fully environmental impacts and promoting use of affordable smart technologies.
While UPDIS is renowned for providing high-end technical consulting services in urban and industrial parks planning, design and development, research/application of low-carbon and ecological technologies, UNIDO recognizes the significant contribution that can be made by the private sector to its strategic objectives and therefore actively promotes cooperation arrangements with private sector stakeholders such as UPDIS.
