UNIDO and ESPRI deliver COMFAR training in Mauritania

From 20-25 February 2022, UNIDO concluded a 5-day intensive beginners-level training workshop on “Financial Analysis of Project Scenarios with application of COMFAR software” in Nouakchott, Mauritania. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Ecole Supérieure Professionnelle et Interdisciplinaire (ESPRI) which upholds the primary objective to provide private education under an agreement with the Mauritanian Ministry of Higher Education. ESPRI offers not only diploma courses but also capacity building training for NGOs and businesses.

The training workshop aimed to improve the professional capabilities in the preparation and appraisal of investment projects of the participants and was attended by several financial experts, economists and project managers from the Caisse de Dépôts et de Développement (CDD). The programme comprised the analytical framework of UNIDO’s methodology as well as hands-on training in the financial evaluation of investment proposals with the application of COMFAR.

COMFAR, a flagship software of the organization, facilitates the rapid calculation of the financial statements necessary for the financial and economic evaluation of investment projects. It can be used for both small and large projects, expansion, rehabilitation and modernization of existing businesses and joint ventures. The software when coupled with investment-profiling efforts offers feasibility analysis to large infrastructure or Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects, which in turn lead to the development of the bankable projects. In this sense, feasibility studies with the help of tools such as COMFAR contribute to the economic development of the country by promoting successful investment projects.

The COMFAR team at UNIDO headquarters offer trainings on “Financial Analysis of Investment Project Scenarios with application of COMFAR software” at three levels such as Beginners, Advanced and Training-of-Trainers. It is worth noting that since the start of the pandemic this is the first classroom training, as all the COMFAR trainings during this period were delivered in a remote-online modality. UNIDO welcomes the resumption of onsite trainings with due compliance to local COVID protocols for the benefit of the participants.
