UNIDO and the African Union shared Quality Infrastructure best practices for sustainable development

BRUSSELS, 4 APRIL 2019 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in cooperation with the African Union Commission (AUC), held on 4 April 2019 the first ever International Quality Infrastructure Forum. It focused on the contribution of Quality Infrastructure to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA). The Forum also showcased how the private sector can contribute to the achievement of the SDGs through the adoption of sustainability standards.

The Forum brought together around 140 participants from across Europe and Africa, including representatives of international quality infrastructure governance bodies and practitioners as well as stakeholders representing international, national and regional authorities, industry, civil society and academia.

 

The Forum wa followed by an interactive workshop on Good Practice in Quality Policy Development on 5 April 2019 targeting participants from African countries.
