Trade and investment facilitation in China

The first training of UN-China-South and Southeast Asian Countries entitled “Triangular Cooperation on Trade and Investment Facilitation Empowerment” series was held on 23 June 2022 as co-organized by UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) in Beijing and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing.

Under the theme of “Cross-border Trade of Agricultural Products and Chinese Standards”,  series of training aim to enhance trainees’ understanding of Chinese standards, provide them with solutions to enter the Chinese market, and bolster trade and investment cooperation between China and Sri Lanka, as well as other Southeast Asian and South Asian countries. This time the trainees were from Sri Lanka's government departments and institutes, such as the Sri Lankan Ministry of Commerce, Export Development Board, Investment Board, Chambers of Commerce, and over 60 SMEs in agriculture, food, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and export sectors.

The training invited many distinguished guests to participate online and in-person, including the United Nations, China’s Ministry of Commerce, China International Development Cooperation Agency, State Administration for Market Regulation, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges, China Chamber of Commerce of Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-products, COFCO, Alibaba Group and O-Tech.

This training was critically acclaimed by the participants from both China and Sri Lanka. The content was informative, practical and feasible. Sri Lankan participants commented that they benefited greatly from detailed lectures, which gave them a more panoramic and clearer view of the Chinese market and Chinese standards.
