Swaziland companies improve their competitive standing through certification

A number of companies in Swaziland have been ISO-certified as a result of a Norad-funded United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) project on market access and trade. The project aimed to safeguard exports, provide consumers with products and services of known safety and quality, and bring about the improvement of the government regulatory system in line with international good regulatory practice in Swaziland. To this end, support was provided to companies towards certification of quality management systems compliant with the ISO 9001:2015 standard, which is essential for companies to gain international market access.

ASD Medicals, Galp Swaziland and Swazi Wire were certified to ISO 9001:2015, with two further companies successfully applying with the Swaziland Standards Authority (SWASA) for certification to ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 for Food Safety Management Systems.
