SAVE THE DATE -19 March 2025 | 14:00 UTC+1 (Online event): FOSTERING SUSTAINABILITY AND RESPONSIBLE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC ACTION Building legal frameworks for a future-proof Quality Infrastructure

Quality Infrastructure (QI) consists of public and private organizations that provide services in areas such as standardization, accreditation, metrology and conformity assessment for state actors, industry, academia and consumers. QI requires a sound legal framework that provides a foundation for the QI system to operate and to support sectorial policies and regulations by potentiating efficiencies and establishing clear responsibilities and practices. This framework can also provide an overarching structure to reform, consolidate, refine, and maintain effective quality programs in a coordinated manner.

This joint UNIDO/PTB publication serves as a guide for QI operators to engage with legal professionals, policymakers, and regulators. By fostering dialogue and collaboration,  QI systems can unlock their full potential to benefit society in general, strengthen the economy and support governments. As emphasized in this publication, QI must be legally defined, strategically planned, effectively administered and collaboratively utilized by all stakeholder to achieve optimal outcomes.

UNIDO and PTB jointly invite you to join the launch of their new publication, which aims to:

  • Foster the technical-legal dialogue between policymakers, regulators, legal professionals and QI stakeholders.
  • Enhance mutual understanding on legal frameworks and QI requirements.
  • Share best practices for a sound relationship between QI and legal frameworks.
  • Provide a platform to discuss and validate the document’s key insights and recommendations.
