Safe+: Enhancing commercial capacities of cosmetics in Colombia

Safe+ is a technical cooperation programme financed by the Productive Transformation Programme (PTP) of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism (MINCIT) of Colombia and by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and implemented by UNIDO. During its 4 years of implementation, Safe+ has successfully promoted success, competitiveness and quality in the cosmetic sector through the closure of technical gaps and enhancement of trade capacity of the national cosmetic products. 24 SMEs were benefited by the Safe+ Programme and are now starting to commercialize their products in the international markets.

Aromas del Sol is one of the SMEs that were supported by the Technical Support Programme from 2015 to 2018. The Colombian family enterprise extracts essential oils from aromatic plants through methods that respect the environment and ensure a sustainable biodiversity management. The trainings that Aromas del Sol received from the Safe+ Programme (quality of essential oils, different analysis techniques, applications and market trends) enabled the company to start commercializing their products at the international level.

Safe+ Programme seeks to support the objective that in 2032 Colombia will be recognized in the American continent as a leader in the production and export of cosmetics, home cleaning products and high quality absorbents, made from natural ingredients.
