International Conference on "Ensuring Industrial Safety"

The International Conference ‘Ensuring Industrial Safety: the role of governments, regulations, standards and new technologies’, co-organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Rostechnadzor, the Russian Federation’s supervisory body on ecological, technological, and nuclear issues took place on 30-31 May at the Vienna International Centre.

Industrial safety is an important but often overlooked aspect to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals. When aspects of industrial safety are neglected, the likelihood of accidents with catastrophic consequences increases significantly. UNIDO and Rostechnadzor are working together to raise awareness about issues related to industrial safety and to the achievement of inclusive and sustainable industrial development. The International Conference is the first major activity undertaken by the two parties since signing a Memorandum of Cooperation to strengthen industrial safety on a global level.
