GQSP Regional Workshops for the Chemical Value Chain in Colombia

From the 11th to the 14th of June 2019, regional events were held to launch the Quality Programme for the Chemical Value Chain, the country project of the Global Quality and Standards Programme (GQSP), in four of the country's main cities - Bogotá, Medellín, Cali and Barranquilla. The events, which were attended by more than 450 people, brought together companies from all sectors of the chemical industry, as well as institutions, laboratories and universities.

During the events, different topics on technical regulations for the value chain were addressed, including the adoption of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for the management and labelling of chemical substances in the country; the new register of chemical substances for industrial use that will be mandatory in Colombia, the Good Laboratory Practices of the OECD, among other topics that respond to the needs of the chemical sector in Colombia.

In Colombia, the Quality Programme for the Chemical Value Chain will be executed during the next four years thanks to the cooperation agreement signed between the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Swiss Confederation - Secretariat of State for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism (MINCIT) through Colombia Productiva.
