Government of Japan funds two projects to support ISID in Iran and Lebanon

The Government of Japan is supporting two UNIDO projects both in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Lebanese Republic with USD 1,151,785.00 from the 2018 Japanese Supplementary Budget. Both interventions are aligned with the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus promulgated by the Government of Japan.

In Chabahar, Islamic Republic of Iran, the project “Developing the fishery value chain in Chabahar to promote integration into the regional economy and create employment opportunities for youth” aims to boost the fishery and ancillary industries through skills development and upgrading of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises in the fish processing cluster in Chabahar and along the value chain to improve their market access.

The second project titled “Market-based construction skills training for all” will be implemented in the North of Lebanon. Considering Lebanon social and economic situation, the project aims to create economic opportunities and jobs in the construction sector, particularly for host and refugee communities. The project foresees to support the establishment of a construction sector skills and vocational training center; to design training curricula, and to facilitate technology transfer activities.
