Good partnership in the fishery sector

As a follow-up of the Fishery Economic Forum organized in Rome by ITPO Italy in co-operation with TII/BCI in May 2017, a commercial partnership arose between an Italian company involved in import-export activities and BPE, a big Ivorian company based in San Pedro.

The partnership started in December 2017, and envisages a stable relation concerning trade of fresh fish from Ivory Coast, namely tuna and curls fish, as well as cuttlefish, in a measure of 1 ton each week.

This good result is part of the technical cooperation project “Assistance technique sur les normes SPS et la chaine de valeur pour faciliter l’accès aux marchés internationaux aux pêcheurs artisans de l’Afrique de l’Ouest », implemented by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in four Western African countries: Mauritania, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea. The project aims to facilitate the access to the global market for local entrepreneurs and is funded by STDF (Standard and Trade Development Facility), a branch of the WTO (World Trade Organization), based in Geneva.
