GLOBAL QUALITY AND STANDARDS PROGRAMME (GQSP) - A TRULY GLOBAL INITIATIVE

The Global Quality and Standards Programme (GQSP) is a truly global initiative developed to assist more than 10 countries worldwide to boost their competitiveness in 14 specific sectors, as highlighted in the newly released GQSP video. Through an innovative approach developed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Government of Switzerland - through its State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), GQSP identifies quality-related challenges and makes targeted interventions at every single stage of the value chain, thereby increasing compliance with international market requirements and ultimately helping countries to engage in global trade.

On 25 August 2020, 116 participants from 16 countries within the GQSP engaged in a global dialogue to discuss challenges, share experiences, best practices and elaborate on opportunities for the future. The discussions focused on implications for trade, value chains, quality infrastructure, particularly standards and conformity assessment during the global pandemic caused by COVID-19. The global programme setup of GQSP allowed for a constructive exchange of ideas and experiences worldwide.
