The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) won a WTPO award under UNIDO support

The World Trade Promotion Organization (WTPO) awards of the International Trade Centre (ITC) (the joint agency of the World Trade Organization and the United Nations) has rewarded this year the digital market hub established with support from UNIDO at the GEPA.

The GEPA market hub has been developed under the UNIDO Trade Capacity Building programme for Ghana, a programme funded by SECO and celebrating in 2018 10 years of fruitful cooperation towards quality in the country. UNIDO provided training courses and coaching ‘on the job’ for the team at the GEPA for two years, and supported the overall design of the market hub. Its aim is to provide local producers, exporters and external buyers with online trade related information fostering exports from Ghana and accessible 24/7.

In addition, Ghana won the bid to host the WTPO awards in 2020, and Ms. Afua Asabea Asare, CEO of the GEPA, has been appointed to the ITC Executive Director’s advisory board, making it a three-time victory for Ghana!
