European Development Days 2021 – Join UNIDO’s sessions on 15 June

We are pleased to invite you to attend two UNIDO sessions at the European Development Days 2021 on 15 June. Join our speakers in this debate.

During the session “Can the Future of Skills Be Green and Gender-Inclusive?” at 16:20 (CEST), leading experts will deliberate on whether the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system can be the change-maker in providing industrial skills equally for a more sustainable future. The session will explore the effects of private-public partnerships in engaging champions in TVET, who represent and advocate for stronger female participation in male-dominated sectors.

Speakers of the session are LI Yong, Director General of UNIDO, Bernardo Calzadilla-Sarmiento, Managing Director of the UNIDO’s Directorate of Digitalization, Technology and Agri-Business, Cesare Onestini, Director of European Training Foundation, Euphrasia Mulenga, WorldSkills Champions Trust representative for Africa. The session will be moderated by Chika Oduah, award winning independent journalist.

At the session To Solve Water Scarcity, Every Drop of Knowledge Matters starting at 17:20 (CEST), drawing on synergies between private and public sectors, experts will share experiences from across Middle East and North Africa (MENA), including the H2O Maghreb project on the challenge of sustainably developing the region’s infrastructure and managing water resources through innovation and a skilled workforce, while also enhancing female participation.

Speakers of the session include Virpi Stucki, Chief of the UNIDO’s Rural Entrepreneurship, Job Creation and Human Security Division, Nader-Iman Imani, Executive Vice President Global Education at Festo Didactic, Abderrafii Mardi, Coordinator of the Moroccan National Institute for Water and Sanitation at National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) in Morocco, Muna Al Banna, Regional Infrastructure Lead of Middle East Regional Office at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). The session will be moderated by Portia Persley, Division Chief at the USAID’s RFS/Center for Water Security, Sanitation and Hygiene.
