Digital circular economy at the UN’s High Level Political Forum 2021
As part of the United Nations High Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2021 held between 6 and 15 July 2021, UNIDO will convene a high level side event entitled “Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Recovery through Digital Transformation and the Circular Economy”, to take place on 12 July at 19:00 (CEST).
The side event will elaborate on how advanced manufacturing technologies and the Fourth Industrial Revolution can propel the “twin transition” of green industry and digital transformation in developing countries, with a special focus on how the circular economy can decouple economic growth from resource consumption.
The session will consist of two parts, with a keynote fireside chat taking place initially between Astrid Schomaker, Director, Global Sustainable Development, European Commission and Roberto Alvarez, Executive Officer, Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils. This will be followed a panel discussion segment featuring Stella Ndabeni Abrahams, Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, South Africa; David McGinty, Global Director, Platform for Accelerating the Circular Economy; Bryton Shang, Founder and CEO, Aquabyte; and Bogolo Kenewendo, Founder, Kenewendo Advisory. The session will be moderated by Stephan Sicars, Managing Director, UNIDO.
