Catch up with the GMIS Digital Series

The third edition of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) was originally intended to take place alongside Hannover Messe, the world’s largest industrial exhibition and trade fair, in April 2020. However, as this was impossible due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it was decided to reformat the event as the GMIS Virtual Summit 2020, allowing participants to engage in the discussions worldwide from the safety and comfort of their own homes and workplaces.

From 4 to 5 September, the Virtual Summit will reflect on “glocalization: towards inclusive and sustainable value chains” and will engage a high-level roster of policymakers, academics, private sector representatives and more discussing the future of manufacturing.

To build momentum ahead of the Virtual Summit, the GMIS Digital Series has been broadcasting weekly set-piece webinars addressing specific themes related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. One of the highlights of this series is the UNIDO ITP Network Session on “Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0”. More information here: https://www.gmisummit.com/gmis2020-agenda/itpo-tokyo/

Following the Virtual Summit, a number of GMIS Digital Series webinars will also be broadcast, with several UNIDO led panels focusing on 4IR in regional contexts (Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and Asia-Pacific), decarbonization and a gender responsive Fourth Industrial Revolution.
