Be Prepared for an Emergency - Enhanced online course “First Aid at the Workplace”

UNIDO, jointly with Common Sense eLearning, Red Cross Austria and Sustainable Leather Foundation has prepared an enhanced on-line training course “First Aid at the Workplace”. Emergencies and accidents can strike anywhere and at any time bringing workplace injuries and illnesses with them. Employers and workers may be required to deal with an emergency when it is least expected and proper planning and training before an emergency is necessary to respond effectively.

UNIDO’s  First Aid Course  is designed to help companies and organizations to provide appropriate training for all personnel, workers and employers to be prepared for that possibility and their ability to provide first aid. Many fatalities can be prevented with the help of first aid, including serious injuries, excessive bleeding, and even death.  First aid training is a valuable, life-saving course. First aid helps prevent the situation from getting worse while waiting for full medical care.

The five main aims of first aid are to preserve life; prevent the escalation of illness or injury; promote recovery; provide pain relief; protect the unconscious. Along with the above five objectives, first aid also provides reassurance to the patient and confidence in the first aider to respond appropriately. It’s a necessary and critical stage for preventing serious harm and is an indispensable skill to have.

UNIDO’s First Aid Course includes self-tests and provides an opportunity for access to free industry reviewed and approved training related to first aid. The Course also guides users through practical hands-on exercises. After finishing the test with a minimum score of 80%, participants will receive and download a certificate.

Development of the course was supported by generous contribution from the Government of Japan.

The enhanced course is free of charge and available here.
