4IR Alliance promotes Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development

The Forth Industrial Revolution (4IR) is at the center of the digital transformation of societies. Recognizing the vast opportunities presented by the 4IR for developing countries/regions, UNIDO launched the Fourth Industrial Revolution Alliance (4IR Alliance), which aims at enabling everyone to address the challenges and reap the opportunities of the 4IR, tackling the digital divide, alleviating extreme poverty, and promoting Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID). Since its launch on 5 November 2020, 4IR Alliance has organized a series of activities on the topic with the thematic focus on regional industrial and value chain cooperation, digitalization and decarbonization transformation, advanced digital production technologies, rural revitalization, and women/youth empowerment.

On 12 October 2021, UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) Beijing, collaborated closely with its policy, industry, business, and knowledge partners, convened the annual meeting of the 4IR Alliance in Beijing, discussing low carbonization and digital intelligence. The seminar provided a platform to spot, identify, evaluate and create investment and technology opportunities.

Through the global forum, policy consultation, capacity building, trade and investment matching and partnerships, the 4IR Alliance has reached out to over 1,068,000 audiences and increased its influence on policymaking and business standard in China.
