Webinar: Strengthening FDI SME business linkages and IPA aftercare in the light of COVID-19 crisis
This webinar will discuss how IPAs can strengthen investment facilitation, after-care services and FDI SME linkages. The theme of in-country linkages between foreign direct investors and domestic suppliers becomes important as it mitigates the risk of supply chain disruptions brought about by a high degree of import dependency in times of a global pandemic crisis. In addition, the master class would look into in-country investment targeting and opportunity profiling techniques, including those focusing on COVID-19 relevant sectors (PPE, etc.) and technology options for virtual investment promotion. The IPA response by the Ireland Development Agency (IDA) will complement the webinar providing examples of interventions in remote client engagement and investor retention during the COVID-19 crisis.
This webinar is part of a series of masterclasses on investment promotion, sustainable development and recovery (24 August–26 September 2020) that will help Investment Promotion Agencies and other institutions with a mandate in investment promotion and facilitation to address the challenges posed by the current COVID-19 pandemic. It will offer a platform for dialogue for peer-to-peer exchange between IPAs, supported by international specialists experienced in trade, investment and development. The course is available in English.
