UNIDO and the Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organizations in Vienna are pleased to invite you to a webinar, titled "UNIDO-Japan Cooperation: Mitigating the Impacts of COVID-19 through Technology Transfer from Japan.”
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected countries globally and slowed down development activities to a great extent. UNIDO, together with the Government of Japan, responded promptly to mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Considering the need for international commitment and solidarity to overcome the crisis and acting on the COVID-19 call from the United Nations system, UNIDO implemented the project “Strengthening the capacity of developing countries to mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic through appropriate technology transfer from Japan” from June 2020 to March 2022.
The project acquired twelve leading Japanese technologies that contribute to mitigating the impacts of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in 10 African and Asian countries (India, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mongolia, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Uganda, Viet Nam). Despite strict COVID-19 measures, the project successfully completed implementation in each country, and the technologies are fully operational.
This online event will attest to the results achieved under and in response to the pandemic through case studies and success stories about investment and technology promotion from Japan, through UNIDO, to partner countries.
