UNIDO Global Call Award Ceremony 2021

Besides the COVID-19 crisis, subject of last year’s UNIDO Global Call, climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time. We face the immediate need to reduce global emission levels and to prevent further emissions growth in rapidly developing regions. To tap into innovative private sector solutions to these challenges, the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Network launched a Global Call for Innovative Solutions in Cleantech and Sustainable Land Management in July 2021.
Thanks to the strong support from the UNIDO Field Network, ITP Network Secretariat and UNIDO’s Investment and Technology Promotion Offices (ITPOs), almost 300 companies from more than 70 countries participated. The winners will be announced during the upcoming hybrid Award Ceremony on 26 October 2021 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm CEST.
The international jury of experts identified one winner for each of the four categories:
- Decarbonizing growing urban environments
- Clean and efficient energy generation and storage
- Circular production and industrial processes
- Sustainable land management
Speakers at the Award Ceremony include representatives from UNIDO as well as from UNCCD and UNFCCC, who partnered with UNIDO for this Global Call. The event will be moderated by UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office Germany (ITPO Germany), initiator of this year’s Global Call, in cooperation with Future Cleantech Architects (FCA), a leading German Think Tank. Bernardo Calzadilla-Sarmiento, Managing Director, Directorate for Digitalization, Technology and Agribusiness will deliver congratulatory remarks on behalf of UNIDO[RTM1] .
