Trade promotion capacity building - FAO

Information dated: 2017

FAO supports the countries with promoting trade through knowledge and experience sharing among national and international experts and authorities. Acting as a neutral facilitator and providing technical expertise on agricultural trade, FAO enables developing countries to develop instruments for trade promotion and increase the competitiveness of their agri-food sector. FAO facilitates the exchange of information between national and international experts, government agencies and the private sector with a view to further cooperation and joint actions targeting expansion and diversification of agri-food trade. The main areas of support include analysis of the opportunities to access markets and diversify agricultural exports and sharing knowledge and best practices on trade facilitation, utilization of trade agreements and unilateral preferences as well as institutional arrangements for trade promotion. Country assistance also includes developing market access guides and other informative materials on entry requirements for exporting specific commodities to select markets.
