TRADE POLICY DEVELOPMENT

In the area of trade policy formulation, the central aim of Switzerland’s capacity building activities is to improve the framework conditions for trade. This requires capacity building for implementing the WTO rules, trade policy institutions, competition policy and the framework conditions for intellectual property and public procurement. In cooperation with different organizations, Switzerland supports its partner countries in building these necessary capacities and institutions.Training in trade law and policy. With the aim of building capacity for more effective participation in international trade, Switzerland, for example, supports the Advisory Centre on WTO Law and promotes partnerships between leading international training institutions and universities in partner countries. Negotiation skills. Switzerland supports its partner countries to be better equipped to position their interests in bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations meaningfully.
