Supply Capacity - Sweden
Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) has launched a project that aims to implement the programme "Strengthening Food Grains Market Systems in Eastern and Southern Africa." The initiative seeks to address key areas that cause market failures in the region, namely, storage and security, coordination and information, services for domestic and cross-border trade in staple foods as well as other market access restrictions.
The Swedish-funded project aims to increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian fruits and vegetables. Ukrainian agri-businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) struggle to keep up with new and more demanding market requirements, especially those of the EU. The need to meet such requirements has increased with the entry into force of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA). The ITC-project is designed to help SMEs seize these new opportunities, enabling them to produce goods according to market demands. It will also strengthen the capacity of business support organizations, allowing them to provide better services to their SME clients.
