South-South and Triangular Cooperation - Belgium

Information dated: 2017

One of the axes of the Moroccan diplomacy is the cooperation in the field of economic and social development with Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2007, Belgium and Morocco signed a Specific Agreement with the objective of promoting and supporting actions and exchange in the field of knowledge transfer between Morocco and the partner countries of the Belgian Development Cooperation in Sub-Saharan Africa. This transfer of knowledge will improve the capacities of the human resources in the Sub-Saharan countries. The Moroccan Agency does the implementation of the Project for International Cooperation (AMCI, Agence Marocaine de la Coopération Internationale) from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Belgium has contributed for 520.000 EUR in the fund. Several activities are planned: missions of Moroccan experts in countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, internships in Morocco in institutions and agencies, study trips to Morocco related to specific areas asked by the beneficiary countries.
