Legal and Regulatory Framework - Sweden
As part of Sweden’s development cooperation with Liberia, Sweden initiated a long-term capacity building programme in the trade area. Launched in 2013, the Swedish support to Liberia’s WTO accession is a co-operation between the Swedish National Board of Trade and the Liberian Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The primary focus of the programme was initially to facilitate Liberia’s accession to the WTO through technical assistance as well as training activities. When Liberia became a member of the WTO in 2015, the project shifted its focus to facilitate for Liberia to take advantage of its membership and implement the commitments agreed on as terms for the Liberian WTO membership. The project will continue until 2018 and aims to ensure the existence of an appropriate organizational structure to deal with trade policy issues.
