Global Advocacy - Japan
IPD is a think tank that serves as a bridge between policy-makers and academia and focuses on development-related regional and country-specific issues. Since 2007, JICA-RI has, with Columbia University, co-sponsored the IPD Task Force on Africa. One of the key objectives of the IPD Africa Task Force is to formulate policy proposals for decision makers on the development and economic issues. In August 2016, JICA-RI and IPD held a TICAD VI Side Event “Africa's Transformation through Industrial Policies and Implementing Agenda 2063” inviting UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and AfDB (African Development Bank) as co-organizers. The event attracted over 120 participants and provided insights on how Africa can promote further industrialization. The latest researches by the Task Force were published in November 2016 in the book "Efficiency, Finance and Varieties of Industrial Policy."
