Trade, Gender and Development Programme

Through its Trade, Gender and Development Programme, UNCTAD aims at supporting member countries to design and implement trade policies that are conducive to inclusive development. More specifically, it supports the membership to (i) assess the gender ramifications of trade policy; (ii) identify gender-based constraints that hinder women's beneficial participation in international trade; and (iii) devise strategies to overcome such constraints and make trade a tool for inclusive development. Activities focus on carrying out research and analytical work on the gender ramifications of trade and trade policy in developing and transition countries; and on building capacities on trade and gender through the delivery of an online course targeting researchers, government officials and civil society representatives from developing countries, least developed countries and countries with economies in transition.
