UNECE through its subsidiary and intergovernmental body, the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT), has develop a series of Recommendations and Standards in support of e-business and the digital economy, including the United Nations Trade Data Element Directory (UNTDED) , eCITES, eCERT, FLUX, eLAB and RASFF. The aim of these tools is to improve competitiveness and participation in global markets by reducing time and costs of trade transactions, improving traceability and access to information, and enhancing transparency and security over the internet, both at national and international level.
