  • you are a new employee of a testing laboratory that has accreditation to EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 laboratory management standard, or,
  • the laboratory you are working for now pursuing accreditation
  • you are looking to validate your knowledge on ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Government of Turkey in collaboration with the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, Bursa Test and Analysis Laboratory (TÜBITAK – BUTAL) partnered to create an enhanced e-learning experience through a five-week guided, virtual, international workshop on “Accreditation of Testing Laboratories: EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017”. This virtual workshop will focus mainly on the general, structural, resource, process and management system requirements for accreditation according to the standard, the application procedure of accreditation, method validation, traceability and the role of quality infrastructure and accredited laboratories, and the higher-level importance of accreditation in relation to the sustainable development goals (SDGs), underscoring the importance of a Laboratory Policy.

Programme Overview

This 5-week virtual workshop incorporates rich interactive material such as videos, exercises, infographics and as well as fit for purpose educational components such as self-study, quizzes, assignments and collaborative discussions forums. These activities will be delivered virtually to develop the competence of participants from 51 countries. The course covers seven main topics, which have been divided into 12 modules. These modules will be presented over five weeks from 8 November 2021 to 10 December 2021. Participants will be expected to dedicate 2 to 3 hours each day to complete the required reading, watch videos, submit assignments and participate in group sessions.

Topic 0: Explore and get acquainted to the online e-learning platform, experts and technical support.

Topic 1: Quality Management Systems and Accreditation of Testing Laboratories EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

Topic 2: Method Validation and Verification.

Topic 3: Traceability of Measurements.

Topic 4: Estimation of Uncertainty in Measurement.

Topic 5: Reference Materials in Accreditation of Testing Laboratories.

Topic 6: Quality Control Activities and Control Charts.

Four key activities will be used during the workshop to achieve the learning objectives. These include:

  • Self-study. The participants will be provided with downloadable and on-line course instructional material (documents, publications, articles etc.) and/or videos and presentations that must be read or watched as a first step.
