Good Governance in QI crucial to implementation of WTO agreements
On 20 June 2018, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) organized a side event on “Good Governance in developing modern quality infrastructure systems” during the Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which took place from 19 to 21 June 2018 in Geneva.
Various agencies, institutions and country representatives including from the International Network for Quality Infrastructure (INetQI), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), the WTO and the Borderless Alliance (BA), shared their views on how they actively promote good governance in quality infrastructure development to achieve an effective integration into global value chains. They also discussed opportunities and challenges on how to best support member countries in setting good governance foundations for a modern quality infrastructure system.
