2nd Edition of QI4SD Index Launched with New Methodology and Results Report

Vienna, 16 June 2025- The 2nd edition of the Quality Infrastructure for Sustainable Development (QI4SD) Index has officially been launched, accompanied by the release of two key publications: the QI4SD Index Methodology and the Results Report.

Developed by UNIDO in close collaboration with the International Network on Quality Infrastructure (INetQI), the QI4SD Index continues to serve as a strategic benchmarking tool that evaluates how national quality infrastructure systems contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This new edition reflects refined methodologies, updated data, and expanded analytical insights.

The Methodology publication details the conceptual framework, indicator selection, data collection processes, and scoring methods used in the assessment of 155 countries. It offers a transparent and replicable approach for understanding the performance and development of quality infrastructure systems worldwide.

The Results Report presents the main findings of the 2nd edition, showcasing global and regional trends and highlighting how strong quality infrastructure underpins inclusive growth, innovation, trade, and sustainability. It identifies top-performing countries and those showing significant progress, offering valuable lessons and pathways for development cooperation.

With this new edition of the QI4SD Index, we continue to strengthen the global evidence base for the role of quality infrastructure in sustainable development. The QI4SD Index supports policymakers and development partners in making informed decisions that drive impact.

Both publications are now available for download on the UNIDO Knowledge Hub.
